Dishwashers rarely have tight seal as you suggest. The gaskets are only made so that water doesnt come out while washing but are not air tight. If its leaking, Check to make sure door is closing properly and that you are using the correct kind of soap.

The seal may be bad ….. inspect seal for tiny cuts, wear or dryed out areas…… you should be able to buy a new seal at a home improvement center….. try to replace it yourself some are easy to do …… give it a shot

I have a bosch and it has a killer warranty – check it first before you go trying to fix it yourself!
