Is there a water-level float inside the chamber? Check to see if there’s something jammed underneath it, causing it to indicate the tub is full when it’s not.

Beyond that, there could be a burned out solenoid valve, or bad switch in the timer, and that may require a service person.

If it is indeed a SGV56Ao3, I’ve had exactly the same problem. This particular model does not have a water level acuation splitter as most dishwashers do. With no splitter, the water inlet pressure will sometimes drop to zero detectable levels and therefore won’t fill. I take it you’ve tried starting it without water from the faucet running. At times that is all that is needed to increase the inlet pressure and trip the splitter. If that doesn’t work, I’d suggest doing the hokey pokey and turning yourself around cause that’s what its all about!

Here is a web-site I used, when my refrigerator went bad. They were very helpful. Good luck.

It could be the wiring running from the main body of the machine to the controls in the door. The wiring is bent at 45 degrees every time the door is opened, eventually they brake. Your machine being 6yr old this could be the problem
This has happened to me twice. You can take the door apart to check this, if they broken, join them and cover then with insulation tape. Don’t forget to unplug the machine first.
